Publish date: 2023-01-09

Tornadus is the first member of the legendary Forces of Nature trio from Gen 5 to appear in Pokémon Go.

Known as the cyclone Pokémon, Tornadus has two different formes - Incarnate and Therian Forme. The Therian Forme for Tornadus was released on Tuesday, 30th March 2021.

Like all Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go, Tornadus can be found in five-star raids. This means that if you want to add Tornadus to your Pokédex, you'll need at least one other trainer to help you in battle.

Everything we know about Tornadus

Alongside Thundurus and Landorus, Tornadus is a member of the Forces of Nature - a trio of legendary Pokémon that make their home in the Unova region.

These three legendary Pokémon are inspired by kami, which are holy beings or spirits from Japanese, specially Shinto, mythology. Tornadus takes its main inspiration from Fūjin, also known as Futen, the Shinto wind god.

This connection to Fūjin strengthens the link between the Forces of Nature and the different domains of the world. Tornadus is the trio member who symbolises the heavens and the forces, like the wind, that pass through it.

Each member of the Forces of Nature also has two formes - Incarnate and Therian Forme. To be 'incarnate' refers to the idea of something immaterial, such as the wind, taking on a physical form. The use of this word when describing one of Tornadus' formes reinforces the idea that this Pokémon is the mythical personification of the wind.

The Therian Formes for the Forces of Nature are revealed through the aptly named Reveal Glass. Originally these formes were only obtainable via Pokémon Dream Radar, an application for the 3DS.
