Red Dead Redemption 2 - Exit Pursued By a Bruised Ego
Exit Pursued By a Bruised Ego is a mission from Red Dead Redemption 2's second chapter.
For more help, our Red Dead Redemption 2 walkthrough explains how to complete the game's many story missions.
Exit Pursued By a Bruised Ego
Exit Pursued By a Bruised Ego objectives:
- Track the bear within 1 minute 30 seconds
- Shoot the bear at least 6 times
- Complete within 12 minutes
You can start this mission after completing Americans at Rest, and is started by speaking to Hosea Matthews at the camp.
Take the Shire horse to Valentine as instructed, and decide whether you want to sell or keep it. If you sell it, you have to buy another one more for what you're selling it for, so keep that in mind.
If you redeemed a Red Dead Redemption 2 pre-order or special edition, then your War Horse and Thoroughbred will be listed here, and available to 'buy' at no cost.
There a bunch of horse upgrades here you can purchase too, if you fancied it.
Follow Hosea until you are in the mountains. Hunt a rabbit using your bow - they are hard to spot, but scan the grass and when the reticicle goes red, you know you can fire on one - then set up camp and create some bait.
Soon after it's time to track the bear. Click in both analogue sticks to find clues and the scent of the bear, which takes you up the valley.
The PC version has seen several new additions, including a photo mode, Landmarks of Riches Treasure Map, The Elemental Trail Treasure Map and the End of the Earth mission. If you're looking for more help in general, our Red Dead Redemption 2 mission list walkthrough can help provide pointers with the story. If you're looking for things to find, there are Killer Clue Piece locations, High Stakes Treasure Map locations, Jack Hall Gang Treasure Map locations, Red Dead Redemption 2 Le Tresor Des Morts and the Poisonous Trail Treasure Map locations too. Our in-depth systems explainers includes hunting perfect pelts, hides and skins as well as all Legendary Animal locations and Legendary Fish locations, or all Gunslinger locations, too. Finally, here's a list of Red Dead Redemption 2 cheat codes .
The choice of whether to split up and find it or use bait is up to you - we decided bait, which ends up with a Dead Eye encounter with the bear before it flees, ending the mission.
At this point, you can continue hunting the bear, which we highly recommend as it's still in the area. Be sure to save first, then continue up the valley. Don't tackle it head on - either find a high vantage point where it can't rush you, and attack from there, or come prepared with a full Dead Eye gauge to fill it full of lead before it has a chance to attack.
If you decide to leave it until later, it's helpfully marked on your map. Either way, if you ever get pelts, then visiting the Trapper allows you to turn it into new clothes.
