Publish date: 2023-02-24

'Throwback Challenge Champion' is the last of the Throwback Challenges special research questlines that have been running in Pokémon Go.

While the previous Throwback Challenge quests have been themed are a specific region in the Pokémon universe - Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh - 'Throwback Challenge Champion' is more focused on achieving great feats in Pokémon Go.

It also introduces a range of Galarian Pokémon, such as Galarian Meowth, which, like the Alolan Pokémon before them, are Pokémon forms that are specific to the Galar region.

How 'Throwback Challenge Champion' works in Pokémon Go, including event date and time

'Throwback Challenge Champion' is a unique research quest in Pokémon Go, because it's both a paid in-game event along the lines of 'A Drive to Investigate' and is unlocked for free by players who completed the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh Throwback quests.

The 'Throwback Challenge Champion' research quest will be available for purchase or unlocking between Wednesday, 3rd June to Monday, 8th June 2020. It will both start and end at 1pm your local time.

If you haven't completed the past four Throwback Challenges, then you can partake in this event by purchasing a ticket throughout its duration. The Special Research will become available to do shortly after this purchase.

'Throwback Challenge Champion' works like the other Special Research questlines, such as the previous paid in-game event, 'A Colossal Discovery.'

The questline will be broken down into several steps, which each contain three individual challenges that you need to complete. You'll be rewarded for each individual challenge and quest step that you complete.

If you're unable to complete 'Throwback Challenge Champion' during the event's time period, then you'll still be able to finish the Special Research after Monday, 8th June.

The only restriction is that you must either purchase or collect 'Throwback Challenge Champion' by Monday, 8th June or else you won't be able to partake in the questline.
