First-person bullet-hell Drunken Robot Pornography adds weekly challenges
AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity developer Dejobaan Games has added a weekly challenge mode to Drunken Robot Pornography's Steam Early Access build.
Entitled Drunken Robot Battle Royale, here's how it works: Every Friday at 8pm GMT, a new challenge map will be released. Players compete on the leaderboards for the highest score until the following Thursday night and Dejobaan's Ichiro Lambe and Rohit Shenoy will host a Twitch show celebrating the winners and discussing updates coming to the game.
Battle Royale is only a temporary addition lasting for six months as it's building up to - and running past - the game's final release in Q1 2014.
For the uninitiated, Drunken Robot Pornography is a first-person bullet-hell affair in which you face off against a series of giant robots in open arenas while armed with a jetpack. It's exactly as awesome as it sounds, but what really gives it legs - and arms, and tentacles - is that players can build their own robots and levels and upload them on Steam Workshop. It looks something like this:
Drunken Robot Pornography was one of the first games to launch on Steam Early Access last March. Elsewhere on Dejobaan's plate is the ode to romantic era poets and flash fiction, Elegy For a Dead World, a game that could not be more different from Drunken Robot Pornography.
