8-bit WOW raid made real

Publish date: 2023-04-19

Gamer's University has made an April Fool real with the release of a simulated version of World of Warcraft's Molten Core raid for a primitive 8-bit console.

Blizzard teased console gamers with its spoof announcement on April 1st this year, showing video of what appeared to be an Atari 2600 version of the 40-player raid - reduced to two players with dots for characters.

Now Gamer's University has taken the trouble to make a playable version of the joke. It's not actually emulated Atari software, but a tiny Windows download which supports two players - "joystick (highly) recommended".

We tried it out and wiped on the first pack of Core Hounds. An authentic conversion, then.
