Pokémon Go Giratina counters, weaknesses and moveset explained

Publish date: 2022-10-19

Giratina has emerged from the Distorted World to make an appearance in Pokémon Go.

When the Renegade Pokémon does make an appearance it will take one of two Formes, either the wyvern Origin Forme or the winged Altered Forme.

Like the Legendary Pokémon it shares the Sinnoh region with, including Dialga and Palkia, Giratina will be available in five-star Raids, so, if you want to defeat this dragon, you'll need a team of fellow trainers.

The Season of Go has arrived! The Pokémon TCG Crossover event is here, which includes the release of Wimpod and Golisopod. While Go Fest 2022 may be behind us, there are still three special research quests you might be working on - Pokémon Go Fest 2022, Rhi's Arrival and A Radiant World. Meanwhile, the Great League and Great League and Great League Remix are currently running in the Go Battle League Season 11. This season has also seen the lowering of the level requirement for Candy XL and introduced the first Ultra Beast, Nihilego.

Everything we know about Giratina

Created by Areceus (i.e Pokémon god), Giratina is part of the creation trio, alongside Dialga and Palkia.

Giratina, however, was a lot more violent than Areceus expected, so it was banished to the Distortion World. In a way, this means that Giratina can be considered the fallen angel of Pokémon mythology.

Giratina is the personification (or Pokémonification if you will) of antimatter, with the Distortion World acting as a near opposite to the normal Pokémon verse. It's devoid of time and space itself is unstable, with the laws of physics being absent.

Giratina has two different formes.

Altered Forme Giratina has six legs and a pair of wings, while Origin Forme has a serpent like appearance, with six floating appendages.

In the main series of games, you can only find the Origin Forme Giratina when you visit the Distortion World or when Giratina is holding the Griseous Orb. The two formes have different stats; Altered Forme Giratina is defense-oriented, while Origin Forme prefers to be offensive.
