CD Projekt suggests potential workaround for game-breaking bug introduced with Cyberpunk 2077 1.1 patch

Publish date: 2023-06-22

UPDATE 28 JAN 2021: CD Projekt has issued a hotfix for Cyberpunk 2077's game-breaking Takemura bug.

Hotfix 1.11, which is now available on PC, consoles and Stadia, addresses two issues that appeared after Patch 1.1.

The first change is to item randomisation, which has been restored to the previous state. A save/load loot exploit related to this will be investigated further, CD Projekt said in the patch notes.

The second change is a fix to the Down on the Street quest bug.

It occurred for some players during a holocall with Takemura, when using a save made on version 1.06 with the Down on the Street quest in progress at the "Wait For Takemura's call" objective. After loading such a save on version 1.1, the holocall would lack dialogue options and block interactions with other NPCs, preventing progress through the game's main story.

ORIGINAL STORY 25 JAN 2021: Cyberpunk 2077's 1.1 patch appears to be causing additional bugs, once of which is game-breaking.

The game-breaking bug relates to the quest Down on the Street. This main story mission sees V meet with key NPC Takemura at the Channel Street docks in Japantown. As part of this quest you must wait to receive a holocall from Takemura, and it's this holocall that appears to now be bugged for some players. Takemura will call, but remain silent, simply staring at V. Here's how it looks:

After weeks of him ghosting me in a main quest, now in 1.1 Takemura calls just to stare at me? If I wanted this treatment I'd go back to high school! from r/cyberpunkgame To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Manage cookie settings

This bug prevents the quest - and progress through the main Cyberpunk 2077 story - from continuing. It's a big problem.

CD Projekt has issued a potential workaround for this bug as it looks into the issue, but it requires an earlier gamesave. Here are the steps:

  • Load a gamesave before Takemura and V leave Wakako's office.
  • Finish the conversation with Takemura outside the office right away.
  • Right after the finished conversation and when the quest was updated, skip 23h.
  • See if the holocall triggers and the dialogue with Takemura starts.
  • CD Projekt will want to issue a hotfix for this one as soon as possible, I imagine. Patch 1.1, which focuses on stability improvements as opposed to quality-of-life, balance or AI reworks, hasn't gone down particularly well with players. The developer has said it will continue to focus on stability improvements in patch 1.2 and other updates, while fixing bugs.
