Dream Suite in Animal Crossing: New Horizons explained
Dream Suite allows you to create a dream version of your island, which can be visited by other players. You also have the ability to visit dream versions of islands in New Horizons, as long as you have the right Dream Address.
Visitors to these special dream islands will find themselves incapable of affecting the island in any way. This means no fruit stealing, cutting down trees or upsetting villagers. Instead, you can simply explore another's creation.
This makes Dream Suite perfect for players who want to show off their island, but are worried about it getting ruined by a rude guest.
You must, however, meet three conditions to use the Dream Suite. The first is that you've downloaded the 1.4.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the second is that you must be connected to the Internet. The third and final condition is that you must have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription to use any of the online Animal Crossing services.
How to access Dream Suite in Animal Crossing: New Horizon
The Dream Suite only becomes accessible after you've downloaded the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 1.4.0 update, which was released during July 2020.
Once you've done this Luna will send you a letter inviting you to join her in the Dream Suite and containing Luna's Bed.
You don't, however, have to use this exact bed to visit the Dream Suite - any bed in New Horizons will do.
All you have to do is lie down on the bed and select 'Yeah, I want to sleep…' to be transported to the Dream Suite.
If you decide to pick 'I'll just lie down' you'll use the bed as if it's just a regular piece of furniture and you'll have to stand up, then lie back down on the bed again to enter the Dream Suite.
How to visit an island using Dream Suite in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
If you want to use Dream Suite to visit an island in New Horizons, then you must first ensure that you have the Dream Address for another player's island.
Without a Dream Address you won't be able to travel to any island at all, so either ask your friends for their Dream Address or choose one that has been posted on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons subreddit.
Once you have a Dream Address, it's time to go sleep and visit Luna in the Dream Suite.
To visit a dream island, select the option 'I want to dream' and, after you've been connected to the Internet, input the Dream Address for the island you wish to visit.
Thanks to the free winter update released on Thursday, 19th November, you can now visit a randomly selected dream island by selecting 'Surprise me' before you input a Dream Address.
Luna will then tell you the name of the island that you've submitted the code for and, if that's correct, choose 'Yes, it is!'
You'll find yourself on your bed outside the Residential Services in the dream version of whichever island you've chosen to visit. You're now free to explore the island and talk to its residents all without causing an unnecessary destruction.
You can even find the other player, or players, have a small chat with them and explore their home.
Just remember - since you don't have any tools, this means that you can only fully explore the island if the player has built enough inclines and bridges. If they haven't, then those parts of the island will remain inaccessible to you.
Finally, you'll also have access to the Custom Design Portal that belongs to that island's owner. Here you'll be able to browse their available designs and copy any that you might like.
When you're ready to wake up, lie back down on the bed and select the option, 'I want to wake up!' You'll wake up back in whichever bed you went to sleep in on your island.
The Animal Crossing 2.0 update and Happy Home Paradise is here! We can help you with the new additions - including where to find Brewster, Gyroids, new villagers, ordinances, new fences, storage shed, new hairstyles, Froggy Chair, group stretching and Kapp'n boat tours. Cooking is now unlockable, so you need to know how to make both flour and sugar, as well as how to grow carrots, potatoes and tomatoes. Meanwhile, if you're new to Animal Crossing, our New Horizons tips can help with the basics. From the off, there's fish and bugs to catch, flowers and fruit to grow with. One long term goal is building your Happy Home Academy score. Finally, you need tools such as the new ladder and vaulting pole to fully explore.
How to create a Dream Address for Dream Suite in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
If you want to have other players visit your island using Dream Suite in New Horizons, then you need to create your own dream address. To do this select, 'I'd like to share a dream' from the menu Luna offers you.
Before you create a Dream Address, however, it's important to note that by making and sharing a Dream Address you're allowing everything on your island to be made public. This includes the look of your island, rooms in your house, custom designs, your name, passport information and bulletin-board posts, among other things.
If you're not comfortable with any of this information being shared with other people, including strangers, then we highly recommend not making or sharing your Dream Address with other players.
If you've changed your mind about people being able to randomly visit the dream version of your island, you opt out of this setting by selecting 'About my island's dream...' and then select 'Adjust surprise sharing.'
Now simply tell Luna 'Stop sharing my dream.' You can also use this option to turn the random visit function back on.
When you're ready to make a Dream Address, Luna will connect to the Internet and create a copy of your island. Once she's finished, she will tell you what your Dream Address is, which will start with DA and contain 12 digits.
You will be able to find your Dream Address on both your Passport and your island map. Luna will, however, remove your Dream Address from both of these if you ask her to.
You can now share this address with other New Horizons players either amongst your circle of friends or on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons subreddit.
Remember - the dream version of your island will only reflect what your island looked like on the day you dreamt it. If you change anything on your island and want it to be represented in your dream, then you must return to Luna so she can update your dream.
Luna can update the dream version of your island once per day.
Hope you all have wonderful dreams!
