Fortnite Season 10 map and confirmed map changes

Between the Fortnite patch notes and what players have spotted, there have been the following changes:

Meanwhile, outside the map, there's a new Victory Umbrella to earn.

How did we get to Fortnite Season 10?

As a new season draws near, odd events start occurring across the Fortnite map. While previous seasons saw a mysterious purple cube and rifts swallow landmarks, Season 9 has seen two towering figures battle across the map, with these events seemingly leading to time travel - or at least, the return of old landmarks - in Season 10.

How, exactly? Let's start from the beginning. Cattus, the monster that was trapped within Polar Peaks, (thanks to FortTory from Twitter for finding this name through a datamine) managed to escape its icy prison and, after leaving a path of destruction, vanished into the ocean.

A few weeks later, construction on a large robot began at the Pressure Plant. This robot is apparently called Doggus, which gives us a pretty good idea about what Fortnite plans to do with these beings.

Here's a useful recap, thanks to a handy infographic by MeMyselfAndAAJ on reddit:

Want to know what Cattus look and sounds like? Thanks to YouTuber Criminal CJ, we have a small idea, with captured footage of Cattus swimming off the coast.

This event was also teased throughout Season 9 through the addition of Fortbytes. Once collected these computer chips have uncovered a mysterious image - a kind of reverse advent calendar (BernardBoi from reddit for uploading this image):

Now, with Season 9 coming to a close, we know that this image is actually a picture of Bunker Jonesy painting a mural during the years he spent trapped in the bunker. The mural depicts the events of the past Seasons, including the Rockets for Season 4 and, of course, Kevin the Cube.

Leaked Loading Screens reveal both a focus on Doggus, and the centre of the mural - the image behind Jonesy - is that climatic battle. (Thanks to Absolute_Unit_1 on reddit for the image):

All these things combined, it's obvious this battle is important to how Season 9 wraps.

The battle took place on July 20th, with a kaiju-inspired fight between Cattus and Doggus that players could witness from Sky Platforms across the map.

We don't want to spoil the result if you haven't watched it already:

With the battle over, a new landmark was added to the map north-west of Salty Springs, and a mysterious ball of energy has appeared at Loot Lake, seemingly activated after being used by Doggus during the battle. And as the likes of TBHVictor on reddit have observed, it's changing.

This energy ball appears to be the big thing that'll kick off Season 10, and the first teaser suggests it'll kick in some kind of time travel, bringing back old features of the map, including the return of Dusty Depot:

Other features hint at a futuristic theme, and mechs - a possible new vehicle type?

The final teaser, meanwhile, shows the energy orb exploding - confirming it's part of the Season 10 transition.

Fortnite Season 10 Battle Pass cost and Battle Pass rewards list

Like Season 9 before it, Season 10 offers an array of new rewards, most of which are locked behind Battle Pass ownership.

While you can unlock a select number of the above with a Free Pass, it's only with a Battle Pass that a second tier of elusive rewards are unlocked.

The Battle Pass is a premium item, and again costs 950 V-Bucks. You can buy a bundle of 1,000 V-Bucks for around £8 / $10, or earn V-Bucks in game through a variety of activities.

Here is a list of what's included with the premium option of the Season 10 Battle Pass bundle:

The Season 10 Battle Pass otherwise includes the following unlocked instantly with the standard edition:

The above cosmetics are unlocked by completing Challenges introduced weekly, ranging from performing certain types of activities or finding hidden objects on the map, and completing them helps you rank up your Battle Pass easier, give you those rewards faster.

Both these Battle Pass Challenges and rewards can be unlocked at your leisure throughout the season, but once a new Season begins, your progress resets, and a new set of rewards and rankings will begin.
