Warzone best AUG loadout: Our AUG class setup recommendation and how to unlock the AUG explained
The AUG is a relatively slow but deadly assault rifle from Black Ops Cold War, but it's now available in Call of Duty: Warzone thanks to crossover content between the two games finally kicking off.
As you'll likely know if you've spent time with Black Ops Cold War, or previous games in the Call of Duty franchise for that matter, the AUG fires in deadly burst patterns. Players don't typically favour the AUG for its speed, but instead choose the weapon based on its stopping power: if you can land a burst on an enemy's head, they'll immediately hit the ground.
In this complete guide to the AUG in Call of Duty: Warzone, we'll be walking you through everything you need to know about the weapon, as well as pointing out which attachments and equipment items you should be bringing along to get the most out of the AUG, so you know all about the best AUG class, best AUG loadouts, and much more besides.

How to unlock the AUG in Warzone
You might have a little bit of a grind to go to unlock the AUG for use in Call of Duty: Warzone if you're at all new to the battle royale game. The AUG doesn't unlock until you've reached level 28, so you'll want to participate in limited-time events like Rebirth, Plunder, and others to maximise your XP gains.
Take note that you'll automatically unlock the AUG in Warzone if you've ascended to level 28 in Black Ops Cold War. Because Activision has tied progress in both games together, crossover weapons like the AUG can be levelled up and earned through either game, with everything like accumulated weapon XP in one game transferring to the other.
Best AUG loadout and attachments in Warzone
Below, you can check out a list of the attachments that we'd recommend equipping to the AUG in Warzone, as well as their corresponding unlock levels for the weapon.
- Flashguard 5.56 (Unlocks at level 11)
- 18” Rapid Fire (Unlocks at level 4)
- Visiontech 2x (Unlocks at level 2)
- Speed Tape (Unlocks at level 9)
- Infiltrator Grip (Unlocks at level 15)
The AUG, as you might already know from Black Ops Cold War, is a pretty slow and cumbersome weapon to use at times. To speed it up a notch, you'll want to add the Speed Tape on the rear grip, which increases aim down sight time, and the Infiltrator Grip, which boosts movement speed, shooting move speed, and aim walking movement speed.
Additionally, the AUG is excellent at pinpointing relatively distant targets, so the Visiontech 2x attachment on the optic category is excellent for helping achieve this. Elsewhere, you'll want the 18” Rapid Fire attachment on the barrel of the AUG to increase the weapon's fire rate, and the Flashguard 5.56 on the muzzle, hiding concealing muzzle flash and helping with the weapon's control.

Best AUG class setup in Warzone
In the list below, we'll walk you through all the equipment and Perks you should equip to best compliment the AUG.
- Perk 1: Kill Chain (Unlocks at level 34)
- Perk 2: Overkill (Unlocks at level 8)
- Perk 3: Tracker (Unlocks at level 51)
- Secondary: Gallo SA12 (Unlocks at level 34)
- Tactical: Heartbeat Sensor (Unlocks at level 30)
- Lethal: Claymore (Unlocks at level 1)
Since the AUG isn't a very good close quarters weapon, you'll want to consider equipping the Overkill Perk in Perk slot two, which lets you carry a primary weapon in your secondary weapon slot. Then equip the Gallo SA12, which despite receiving some nerfs since Black Ops Cold War launched is still a powerhouse up close.
We'd recommend the Kill Chain Perk, which increases your chance of finding handy Killstreaks in Supply Boxes. Next, take the Tracker Perk, which lets you see enemy footprints shortly after they've passed through an area, revealing their locations so you can get the drop on them.
Rounding out the equipment picks to compliment the AUG are the Heartbeat Sensor and the Claymore. The former lets you pinpoint enemy locations via a tablet on your shoulder button, while the latter is great for defending positions against encroaching enemy forces.
