Shiny Bulbasaur, evolution chart, 100% perfect IV stats and Venusaur best moveset in Pokémon Go
Bulbasaur is the focus of the first ever Community Day Classic - an event which sees the spawn rate of the highlighted Pokémon from a previous Community Day event.
The Gen 1 starters are the perfect place to begin, and we imagine will run alongside regular Community Day events throughout the year.
This event is ideal for both newcomers and experienced players alike, because, not only does it offer you the chance to fill in some Pokédex entries, but you can find a Bulbasaur with 100% perfect IV stats.
Below you'll find a preview of shiny Bulbasaur and, for when you find the ideal Bulbasaur, the Bulbasaur evolution chart and Venusaur's best moveset.

Bulbasaur's 100% perfect IV in Pokémon Go explained
An excellent reason to partake in January's Community Day Classic is the chance to catch a perfect Bulbasaur in Pokémon Go.
A Bulbasaur with 100% IV stats can be evolved into Ivysaur and, eventually, a powerful Venusaur, which is a great choice for battling in raids, gyms and the Go Battle League.
The CP values which correspond to perfect 15/15/15 stats are as follows:
- Level 30 (wild CP maximum) - 955 CP
- Level 35 (weather boosted CP maximum) - 1035 CP
The wild CP value aligns with your current trainer level until you reach Level 30, so, since the majority of the player base is above this level, we kept to these values for simplicity's sake. If, however, you're currently below Level 30, these values will be different.
Bulbasaur evolution chart: What does Bulbasaur evolve into?
Bulbasaur has two evolutions - Ivysaur and Venusaur - which require 25 Candies and 100 Candies respectively.
Throughout Community Day Classic - running from 2pm to 5pm (local time) - you'll have ample time to collect Bulbasaur Candy for both evolving this Pokémon, teaching it new moves and powering it up.
You can also use a number of methods to boost the amount of Candy you earn:
- Using a Pinap Berry will double the amount of Candy you receive from 3 to 6.
- Evolving a grass or poison-type Mega Evolution - such as Mega Venusaur or Mega Beedrill - during the event grants an extra 1 Candy per catch.
These methods are especially useful if you can only play for a small part of Community Day, but still want to evolve or power up a Bulbasaur.
Before evolving Bulbasaur, remember to check their IV stats or simply search 3* and 4* to see which ones are worth investing in. Bulbasaur's exclusive move - Fenzy Plant - will also be available till 7pm (local time) on Community Day.
If you miss the moves, you'll need to either use an Elite TM or wait till the December Community Day (assuming the Classic creatures will make a come back during the end-of-year catch-up event).
What, however, is the best moveset for Venusaur?
Venusaur moves and best moveset recommendation explained
For the best Venusaur moves in Pokémon Go, we recommend Vine Whip (Fast) with Frenzy Plant and Sludge Bomb (Charged).
As expected, you'll definitely want to make use of Venusaur's Community Day exclusive move, Frenzy Plant, making Venusaur one of the best grass attackers in the game (especially when you take into account its Mega Evolution).
Sludge Bomb is optional - but still recommended to give you a poison typing option. Meanwhile, though Vine Whip or Razer Leaf are good Fast move options, Vine Whip just about edges it if you have a Fast TM to spare.
The above is, of course, our opinion. Venusaur's full moveset, accessed using Fast and Charged TMs, is as follows:
Fast Attacks:
- Razor Leaf (Grass)
- Vine Whip (Grass)
Charged Attacks:
- Frenzy Plant (Grass - Community Day / Elite Charged TM exclusive)
- Petal Blizzard (Grass)
- Sludge Bomb (Poison)
- Solar Beam (Grass)
Aside from the chance to create a powerful Venusaur, this Community Day is perfect for finding a shiny Bulbasaur...
The Season of Go has arrived! The Pokémon TCG Crossover event is here, which includes the release of Wimpod and Golisopod. While Go Fest 2022 may be behind us, there are still three special research quests you might be working on - Pokémon Go Fest 2022, Rhi's Arrival and A Radiant World. Meanwhile, the Great League and Great League and Great League Remix are currently running in the Go Battle League Season 11. This season has also seen the lowering of the level requirement for Candy XL and introduced the first Ultra Beast, Nihilego.
What does shiny Bulbasaur, shiny Ivysaur and shiny Venusaur look like in Pokémon Go?
Finding a shiny form for the highlighted Pokémon is one of the biggest draws for any Community Day.
Coupled with the increased shiny rate for Community Days and how catching Pokémon of the same type naturally increases your chance of encountering shinies, it's easier to catch a collection of shinies during these events.
When it comes to actually finding a shiny Pokémon, you first need to start a catch encounter with a Pokémon in the wild. You'll then be able to tell if the Pokémon you're facing is shiny by its alternative colouring, the sparkles which shine at the start of the encounter and the shiny icon next to its name.
Shiny Bulbasaur is very similar to the regular version - with just a slightly different skin tone - while evolutions Ivysaur and Venusaur offer yellow plants on their backs:
If this is your first time facing the shiny form for a particular Pokémon, we recommend using Golden Razz Berries and Ultra Balls to increase your chances of catching it.
Shiny Bulbasaur is one of the early shiny releases Pokémon Go, being released as part its first Community Day back in March 2018.
If you want to evolve a shiny Bulbasaur, we recommend waiting till the end of the Community Day. This is because you might be lucky enough to catch multiple shiny Bulbasaurs and, if so, it's a good idea to check their IVs.
Doing so will not only give you a shiny Venusaur, but a powerful one and, if evolved before the 7pm (local time) on Community Day, it will know the exclusive move Plant Frenzy.
Community Day is the perfect opportunity to both find a rare Pokémon and transform it into a powerful fighter. Take the time to carefully pick and choose your Bulbasaurs, investing in its moveset, to make the most of this event.
