FIFA 21 best CDM - the best Defensive Midfielders in FIFA
It's an interesting year for the best CDMs, with Casemiro taking top spot despite being part of a decidedly below-par Real Madrid side, league winners or not, and right back Joshua Kimmich popping up in the CDM position despite really being a retrained right back. Busquets gets a slight downgrade but is still doing very well for himself considering his age and Barcelona's abysmal defensive record, while opinions on Henderson's high rating of 86 will depend on whether you belief a team's performance comes down to player quality or the manager's coaching.
Again, we've opted for a top 20 here to give you a wider range of options.

One of the best FIFA 21 wonderkids appears here in Frenkie de Jong, too, who'll likely be crucial to Barcelona's uncertain future.

Other things to know about picking the best FIFA Midfielders
As we've already mentioned, deciding on your choice of midfielder in FIFA 21 will depend on the finer details, with slightly different factors becoming more or less important depending on the mode and formation you're playing. Here are some things to bear in mind.
- For Career Mode, potential is important too - Some players have higher built-in potential for growth than others, and if you're planning on playing at least two seasons of Career Mode then it's going to have a major impact on your squad. It's also a great way to pick up a bargain, too, so if you're keen on finding some youngsters take the time to go over our detailed list of the best FIFA 21 potential wonderkids and young players, whcih includes some of the finest young midfielders in the game.
- For Ultimate Team, remember you can use Chemistry Styles - Chemistry Styles, if you didn't know, add up to a whopping 90 points to your player's attributes, spread according to the Style you choose. You can read more on Chemistry in general in our guide to how FIFA Chemistry works, and likewise the best FIFA Chemistry Styles in our detailed guide to those, too.
- Think about your style of play when looking at stats - We mentioned this briefly above, but certain midfielders will work better in certain formations and styles. If you're a fan of Tiki-Taka then players like Iniesta, Silva, and Verratti are well-suited, whilst more dynamic, phsyical, end-to-end stuff might make the likes of Pogba, Kante, and De Bruyne more useful.
