Big Destiny 2 update lowers the chance of getting an exotic duplicate
Bungie has issued a big Destiny 2 update that lowers the chance of getting an exotic duplicate.
One of the more frustrating things about the game's loot grind is getting an exotic you already own - especially given the rarity of exotics post-Forsaken.
Now, with the release of update 2.0.5, the exotic grind should be a much better experience. According to the patch notes on Bungie.net, Destiny 2 now has exotic duplicate weighting.
Here's the note:
- When a player receives an Exotic, we now take into account all Exotics the player has found and weight them against Exotics they have yet to acquire. This lowers the player's chances of receiving Exotics they already own.
- Exotics that the player does not yet own are individually weighted much higher than duplicate Exotics.
- When receiving duplicate Exotics, the player is more likely to earn armor pieces as these have randomly rolled perks.
There's a lot more to the update than exotics. Also of note is a rework of masterwork cores, which have been renamed to enhancement cores and are now easier to obtain, which is good news for those who like to infuse weapons.
Here's the note:
- Renaned Masterwork Cores to Enhancement Cores
- Enhancement Cores are now awarded by Scrapper bounties and six of the Spider's weekly bounties
- Enhancement Cores will be more visible in the loot feed
